Clearing the garden & house

Clearing the front and back garden was back breaking work, 25 years of composting material, brambles and ivy is unbelievably heavy and tough to get through. We managed to clear up to the pool using spade and hand and then on used a strimmer to get through the brambles. Until we could get down to the bottom of the garden bonfires were out of the question so it was regular trips to the tip for us!

We also had to disconnect and chuck the old copper cylinder which was so full of lime scale it split, leaked onto the floor in the bedroom, rotted the wooden floor boards underneath and a couple of joists.

We also needed to ditch the carpets, remove the wallpaper, dismantle the wooden 'sauna' ceiling in the kitchen and scrape off the archatraving ceilings. As well as smash down the arch and fireplace surround made of stone, that took some beating.
